|I'm guessing that this would apply to maybe a dozen animals documented in the core rulebooks, so I'm inclined to agree that describing the typical cost in the text of the article (and adding the appropriate cost category) is good enough. If it is more widespread than that, then we can easily add edition-specific parameters as needed.

Forums: Helping Hand > Prosposal: Adding a "Value" for the Creature template

Use the following template for a nicely presented post:

Hey there, me again. I know this is rather soon after I had just previously proposed something, but I had this idea come to me while reading through some old sourcebooks. Specifically the 2nd edition "Player's Handbook Revised."

Now of course "Value" would be a very niche statistic that a majority of creatures on this wiki would not utilize, but there are a decent amount of creatures throughout the editions who have prices for them listed. For some specific examples that both 2e and 5e share there are: Camels, Donkeys, Elephants, and Horses.

Hello! I'm not sure if the general template needs the "value" parameter, as cost is only applicable to a very small subset of creatures. However, I think it is useful to have the associated cost of purchasing a creature, either draft or riding, etc, somewhere on the wiki. This might be better expressed in the article text, or even with a category, such as 0-24 gold pieces. We already do this for creatures such as miniature giant space hamsters and shadow mastiffs. Other "creatures" such as golems also often have an associated assembly cost (it is easier to argue in this case, though), which also have the appropriate categories.

Can you put a price on life?

I'm guessing that this would apply to maybe a dozen animals documented in the core rulebooks, so I'm inclined to agree that describing the typical cost in the text of the article (and adding the appropriate cost category) is good enough. If it is more widespread than that, then we can easily add edition-specific parameters as needed.
