|FW, I really like how the Star Wars page is organized :) The more templates... the better organization on the wiki!! Actually, even a page setup template would be cool... such as page subcategories... like History, Personality, Physical description, etc. Of course, there are so many different ways to set up a page... right now, some people use biography and others use history... I know it's anal... but similar organization looks nice. If there is already a page like that... I'd love to be directed to it :) P.S. I think those ideas would work... just look at Streams of Silver

|I do like the way Wookieepedia does the books. We did start to do that here, with such ones as Spellfire (novel) and Streams of Silver. Until the 4E changes came along and the vote was to ruin anything that an older edition editor does. So most of us just gave up on that, and I guess the ruling of '4E must ruin the Realms and just get over it', will always stand.

How about the way other wikis do changes by book? Should we add a separate section per source book or novel? With the 'well this is what this book says' warning.

Forums: Helping Hand > Things we could learn from Wookieepedia

Use the following template for a nicely presented post:

Write your message here!

First up, Wookieepedia doesn't do everything perfectly, I am sure.

Secondly, not everything Wookieepedia does is applicable or appropriate for this wiki.

Thirdly, I bet there are plenty of other Wikia (and other) wikis we could learn from.

I'm glad that's out of the way! I like starwars:Template:Policies which is a nice way of representing the various policies on the wiki. We could perhaps use a simple reference page for people to find a list of the important things to know when editing here.

I also like the way books are represented, such as starwars:Lost Tribe of the Sith: Paragon. It has formalised the way that characters, locations and things like that are mentioned as appearing in a particular book. Currently, on this wiki, we have some bitty lists on some book articles, and nothing on others.

What do you think? Can these ideas be transferred and if so, would they work? Are there other things from Wookieepedia or other wikis that we might learn from?

I also love the star wars wiki, although it is admittedly not perfect, it is certainly one of the most user friendly and in depth wikis out there.

I believe we can learn from it, especially seeing as our topics are similar (fictional universes). I like the particular improvements you've mentioned, and also the quote post someone mentioned earlier.
