{{Forum post| Thanks for the replies. I am using PCEM with an Award SiS 496/497 iDX4/75 bios with 256 meg of memory. The error is: DFMEM: Aborted, <math>\hbox{error} = 2</math>, attempt to reference invalid handler" in the emulation window. I bought the game years ago on cd, not sure which edition, possibly the Gold Edition, a reissue. It works on DOS 6.22 but crashes in Windows when selecting character creation. I could use DOS, but I assumed it would work on Windows due to its backward compatibility. |Morbo the Annihiliator (talk) 22:13, December 27, 2019 (UTC)}}

{{Forum post| Just joined, still trying to learn how to respond. Thanks for the replies. I am using PCEM with an Award SiS 496/497 iDX4/75 bios with 256 meg of memory. The error is : "DFMEM: Aborted, <math>\hbox{error} = 2</math>, attempt to reference invalid handler". I bought the game on cd many years ago. It was a reissue, possibly the Gold Edition. I get the error from the emulator, not the host. The intro movie works okay, but when I select character creation the game crashes. It works okay on a DOS 6.22 vm, I was just wondering if anyone had played the original game in Windows. |Morbo the Annihiliator (talk) 22:31, December 27, 2019 (UTC)}}

{{Forum post|Welcome, I just fixed your posts. I haven't played it on Windows 98SE, via an emulator, or straight from the OS itself. Menzoberranzan requires DOS, either via an emulator or as the OS, not Windows 98. Many people actually have the same problem as you, as they assume it will work on newer operating systems out the box, but that is not correct. Happy gaming!

{{Forum post| Just a follow up question. The README file for the game says two maps in the game were reversed. There is a patch available and the GOG version has the patched version. Hi. I would need to know more information about how you are trying to play Menzoberranzan. What emulator are you using? Are you using DOSBox? Where did you acquire the game? I have run the game a few times, and it works on the most recent edition of Windows. I acquired this copy from GOG. Please post the error message and where it is from (emulator, etc). Thanks.
