One concern: Can you rename it? Wikia is the company and main site that hosts all these wikis. We're just the Forgotten Realms Wiki. Wikia Requests feels like it would cover all FR-related wikis, namely those for all the video games.

Eli, I completely agree with BadCat... too much on my plate, though I have always thought you were admin material, so I think you could easily manage the site :)

|Thanks for the feedback guys, I've linked the thread on reddit to here as well now. Unfortunately I can't change the title of the post, but in a week or so I will replace it with an updated one based on whatever feedback/thoughts come out of here. I've become aware that not everyone who has an interest in the realms (candlekeep et al) is also keen on editing, but it seems most realms fans (and even authors) make use of the wiki and have an opinion on what they want from it. If the subreddit and the request initiative can help bridge that gap somewhat...and filter out those tricksy trolls, then that will take some pressure off you guys.

Darkwynters, I think you guys are doing a fine job at the moment keeping things running but if/when you need an extra pair of mitts then you know where to find me :) Thank you. Also, I have found one of the slumbering admins, Zerak-Tul, over at reddit who might be willing to lend a hand if we need.

Forums: Helping Hand > Wikia Requests

Use the following template for a nicely presented post:

It seems a bit of convergent evoloution has gone on as both the folk at Candlekeep and Reddit have come up with the suggestion of Wikia Requests. As BadCatMan pointed out in Forgotten Realms Wiki talk:Requested articles, it appears we have already got something in place here as well and I think it would be good to discuss what we might want to do with this new angle...i.e putting a link on the main page?

In a somewhat related vein, I created a subreddit called /r/Forgotten_Realms a few months back, which is steadily growing in size and I would like it to work in partnership with the wiki, where possible. We already have a wikia request thread stickied for member's suggestions or to point out areas of improvement (and I'll link it to the requested articles page here) in the subreddit but I'd be very interested in what you guys think too. Terrorblades stumbled on the sub recently and is a mod too now, so if there are any cross-site initiatives you guys would like to suggest or ways we can work together, then we are both open to any and all opinions.

P.S. I wasn't going to bring up the reddit sub here until it had gotten a bit bigger but this convergence seems like a good opportunity.

My plan is to develop another box on the Main Page, in the right column, or adjust the existing boxes, to show a quick helping hand to readers and new editors. I'm picturing a randomly displayed tip or rule (like to write in past tense, give a reference, provide an edit summary, etc.). I also want to link to Forgotten Realms Wiki:Requests, so those who don't feel confident editing can still see improvements made (and start to get involved) and to better target our work to what would satisfy readers. Copy-editing a whole lot of stubby NPC articles every day just doesn't satisfy me much.

Hopefully, the Requests won't get too badly trolled or filled with nagging requests to abandon 4th edition.

I don't follow Reddit, and I can barely make sense of it. Plus, I have enough on my plate as it is. So, I won't be getting involved in that. But, Eli, if you want to manage it, feel free to pass good requests along. It's a good idea, but I feel the main requests action should happen on the FRW itself.

One concern: Can you rename it? Wikia is the company and main site that hosts all these wikis. We're just the Forgotten Realms Wiki. Wikia Requests feels like it would cover all FR-related wikis, namely those for all the video games.

Thanks for the feedback guys, I've linked the thread on reddit to here as well now.
