Gorgosaurus, also known as albertosaurus, was a type of dinosaur.[1][2][note 2]
Description[]
Gorgosaurs looked like other carnosaurs like the tyrannosaurus, but were somewhat smaller. They had a long jaw that was filled with rear-facing teeth.[2]
Behavior[]
Gorgosaurs were known for being aggressive.[1]
Ecology[]
Gorgosaurs were carnivorous and solitary creatures.[2] In the Realms, gorgosauruses could be found inhabiting the land of Chult[5] and the Malatran Plateau.[6]
Rumors & Legends[]
It was speculated by sages that gorgosauruses were the ancestors of tyrannosaurs.[2]

Notes[]
- ↑ The 2nd edition alignment given in the original source is "Nil", which should be read as Neutral according to this Sage Advice answer by Skip Williams in Dragon Magazine Issue #155: "The nil alignment rating is a holdover from an early draft of the Monstrous Compendium material. Originally, a rating of nil indicated that a creature was not intelligent enough to have an alignment at all. However, the nil rating was dropped during rewriting and should have been replaced with the neutral alignment."
- ↑ In reality, the gorgosaurus and albertosaurus are two very similar, closely related genuses of tyrannosaurid dinosaur. D&D sources reflect an early view that they are in fact the same genus, but later research suggests they are not, though this is still debated by some paleontologists. Being based on D&D sources, this article treats them as the same, at least for D&D purposes.
