The Hammer of Thunderbolts was a powerful dwarven warhammer.[1]

History

This mighty weapon was wielded in the Battle of the Drowning of Lornak. As of around 1360 DR, a runestone in Delzoun written in Dethek was claimed to a give a clue to its whereabouts.[2] The dwarven adventurer Thelarn Swifthammer was said to have been buried with such a hammer in a tomb beneath the Hill of Lost Souls in the Battle of Bones.[3]

Unteius "Stoneshoulders" Boldenbar, one of the eight Master Masons of Sarbreen, possessed a hammer of thunderbolts that had been passed down through his clan. His particular hammer was what gave Sarbreen the moniker "The City of the Hammer". It was lost somewhere in the Underdark as Unteius led Sarbreen's refugees to safety after the realm of Roldilar fell.[4]

The dwarven sage Skarn Stonegrinder of Impiltur was known to possess a hammer of thunderbolts.[5]

Duke Eltan of Baldur's Gate had one, but he was said to rarely use it.[6]

Ahmaergo the "Horned Dwarf" was known to have a hammer of thunderbolts in his personal collection of magic items.[7]

In 1369 DR, a hammer of thunderbolts could be found in a lair inhabited by mind flayers accessed from the sewers underneath the temple district of Athkatla with a key found in the Windspear Hills dungeon. This weapon could be made into Crom Faeyr by bringing it to Cromwell in the Docks District of Athkatla and finding the gauntlets of ogre strength, girdle of frost giant strength, and the Crom Faeyr scroll.[8]
