The hyojosho was the highest court of the nation of Wa. It was one of the three primary offices of the shogunate.[1]
Organization[]
The judges of the executive court were selected from city commissioners and special representatives of the Council of Elders, the roju. All judges had to be approved by the shogun, and to serve as a member of the hyojosho was a thing of great honor.[1]
