Iallanis (pronounced: /ˈiəlɑːnɪsEE-uh-lan-is[3] about this audio file listen) was the giant goddess of love and mercy. She always sought to reunite the giant races under a single banner, with the hopes that they could live in harmony forevermore.[2] Her holy symbol was a garland of flowers.[1]

Relationships

As Hiatea's younger sister, she counted the farming deity as an ally. Little else was known, but a good guess is that she was also allied to Sune.[citation needed] Iallanis was also allied with Fionnghuala, deity of the swanmay.[3] She was not a person elven gods paid respect to.[6]

History

At some point in history, the Seldarine under Corellon invaded Arborea from Ysgard because they wanted the giants' land. The giants fought, lost, were driven out, their land was taken, and Arvandor was founded on it once it was under the elves' control. Unlike her brothers, Iallanis did not fight the invaders but stayed at home and was not driven out like them by the Seldarine. She was not a figure the elven gods saw a lot of reasons to respect.[6]
