Iarno Albrek, also known as "Glasstaff", was a human wizard and the leader of the Redbrands bandit gang.[5]
Description[]
He was a short, dark-bearded human wizard that was simply known to most as "Glasstaff" for his weapon of choice, a magic staff made of glass, which was a staff of defense. Iarno was initially a member of the Lords' Alliance, who was sent to the town of Phandalin to establish constabulary (as the town did not have a powerful authority).[5]
Albrek had a rat familiar that served as a scout. His familiar would notify him of intruders via telepathy.[5]
History[]
Circa 1491 DR,[note 1] Iarno broke ties with the Lords' Alliance and created the Redbrands under the guidance of Nezznar. Iarno knew of Nezznar from his contacts in the Lords' Alliance and negotiated a meeting with the drow, seeing a chance to line his pockets.[5]
Appendix[]
Notes[]
- ↑ Pages 30‒31 of Lost Mine of Phandelver describe the eruption of Mount Hotenow (1451 DR) as occurring "30 years ago", which would place the adventure in 1481 DR. When the adventure was later remade into Phandelver and Below: The Shattered Obelisk, this 30 year time frame was kept (pages 50 & 53). However, pages 103 and 179 of Acquisitions Incorporated, a source published after the former, state that the events described in the adventure happen five years after both Lost Mine of Phandelver and Princes of the Apocalypse. Since the latter is explicitly set in 1491 DR, and considering this answer by Ed Greenwood about dating the adventure, this wiki will use 1491 DR for events related to both versions of the adventure.
