Ice storm, formerly known as Veridon's storm, was an evocation spell that blasted an area with hail.[5][1]

Effect[]

The spell caused large hailstones to bombard an area, inflicting both impact and cold injuries to those they struck. The storm also slowed their movement and made it harder to hear.[5]

Components[]

The spell required some drops of water and a pinch of dust.[5]

History[]

The spell was created by the arcanist Veridon of Netheril, ruler of the enclave of Lathery. He introduced it in 3415 NY (−444 DR) under the name Veridon's storm. At Lathery, continual Veridon's storms were used to chill the city's cold storage rooms for the freezing of fish.[11][12]

It later became known simply as ice storm.[1]

Ice storm was a common spell in Faerûn in the 1360s DR.[13]

Notable Uses[]

During the Time of Troubles in the Year of Shadows, 1358 DR, Kyriani hurled an ice storm at an avatar of the goddess Shar to hold her off, but she deflected the hail with a wall of force.[14]
