Infravision was a type of vision that many humanoid species had,[1][2] in addition to "normal sight". It allowed a creature to see in complete darkness up to a set distance,[3] typically 60' (18.3 m),[4] though not in or through darkness that was magical in origin.[5] Subterranean humanoids often possessed superior infravision that allowed them to see in the dark at a distance of 120' (36.6 m).[6][7]

Despite the name, this form of vision did not allow creatures to see light that fell within the infrared spectrum.[4]

Creatures known to have infravision included drow,[6] duergar,[7] dwarves, elves, halflings,[8] and svirfneblin, among others.[9]
