Infravision, originally called Nalevac's deep sight,[1] was a common alteration spell that allowed the target to see in completely dark environments, giving them temporary infravision.[2][3]

This spell allowed the casting wizard, or the touched target, to see in absolute darkness up to 60 ft (18.3 m). Highly luminous sources, such as torches or a blazing fire, essentially blinded this vision. Thus, infravision was usually used in dark areas only, and may have hindered the recipient in well-lit areas. The duration of the bestowed infravision scaled with the experience of the caster.[2][3]

The spell required somatic, verbal, and material components. The material component could either be an agate stone or a pinch of dried carrot.[2][3]

The spell was invented by the Netherese arcanist, Nalevac, in −2005 DR.[1] Infravision was also detailed in Bowgentle's Book,[6] as well as The Alcaister,[7] and the Book of the Silver Talon[8].
