Ingval Muth was an elder resident of Eveningstar in Cormyr during the mid-1480s DR.[1][note 1]

Welcome to our village, stranger. I'm sorry we cannot give you a better reception during this time of war.
Indeed, instead of a proper welcome, I bring you work instead. Elminster says you are a trustworthy adventurer, and that's exactly what we need now.
— Ingval[1]

Description[]

Ingval was an older man with a bald head and short white goatee. He wore a long black robe.[1]

History[]

Hear me out, adventurer! The villagers report having these strange dreams for several nights now. And the dreams are always the same. They feel a malevolent presence, and a harsh voice calls out, "Where is the Thread of the Weave? Tell us or die!" Then the dreamers hear a foul laugh and awaken with a feeling of uncontrollable fear.
— Ingval[1]

During the Sschindylryn invasion of Eveningstar, Ingval sought the help of passing adventurers (from Eberron) in regards to the missing War Wizard Barthand, who had gone and investigated the cave system below the ruins of a burnt-out house on the edge of Eveningstar in pursuit of the strange dreams and voices that had been haunting the people of Eveningstar. Though a capable War Wizard, Barthand did not return. When the adventurers showed up, Ingval explained the situation in depth and asked that they investigate the caves and rescue the wizard. Within the caves they found the night hag Frelga, who was working for the drow invaders.[1]

Notes[]

  1. Menace of the Underdark (including Web of Chaos) is dated to the period of 14841485 DR, as it references the ongoing Darkening. Shadowfell Conspiracy (including Disciples of Shadow, Shadow Under Thunderholme, The Druid's Deep, and The High Road of Shadows) are dated to the same period, as they are stated to take place at roughly the same time as Menace of the Underdark.
