The Invasion of Ruinspoke was a conflict between the Tymantheran village of Ruinspoke and the forces of the lamia Queen Sisay, which took place in the Year of Deep Water Drifting, 1480 DR.[1]

HistoryEdit

In 1480 DR, the kobold tribes living in the frontier lands between Tymanther and Mulhorand became bolder and united under a single banner, attacking the farmsteads nearby Ruinspoke.[2] The kobolds were tricked into believing that they were working for a dragon, when in fact they were deceived by Gertros,[3] a doppelganger who impersonated a priest of Tiamat and convinced the kobolds that he was the messenger of a powerful dragon.[2] Gertros was working for Sisay, the lamia queen of Unthalass,[4] who wanted to test Ruinspoke's defenses to see if her forces were capable of invading Tymanther.[2]

Lord Tuanek, the ruler of Ruinspoke and a prominent member of Clan Jalt, hired a band of adventurers to deal with the situation.[2] The adventurers killed Gertros and uncovered clues that hinted to Queen Sisay's involvement.[4]

Although Gertros's plot was foiled by the adventurers, Queen Sisay considered it a success. Now that she had measured Ruinspoke's strengths and weaknesses, Sisay sent another of her agents, a dragonborn wererat named Bragg, to organize the monsters of the area into an army, and, while the adventurers were occupied dealing with Bragg, Sisay sent an assassin to kill Lord Tuanek.[5]

The adventurers were able kill Bragg, dealing a big blow to the monster army. And they also may have thwarted the assassination attempt. Or Lord Tuanek may have been killed, but if that happened, he was resurrected later by members of Clan Jalt.[6]

Annoyed by the meddlesome adventurers, Queen Sisay sent her second-in-command, Masika, to destroy Ruinspoke once and for all.[7] The lamia general destroyed many of the nearby farms and killed many of Ruinspoke's citizens before leading her huge monster army to attack Ruinspoke.[8]

The village had to endure a brutal siege. The adventurers, helped by the garrisons of the Lance Defenders and the Platinum Cadre stationed in the city,[9] may have been able to kill or subdue Masika, or Ruinspoke may have been overrun and destroyed by monsters, and all its citizens killed.[1]

Regardless of the village's fate, a Lance Defenders detachment was sent from Djerad Thymar to deal with the monster threat, and the Thymari soldiers were able to easily destroy Queen Sisay's monster army in the ensuing battle.[1]

AftermathEdit

Regardless of whether Ruinspoke was destroyed or saved by the adventurers, the village was greatly damaged by the monsters' attack. The detachment of Lance Defenders from Djerad Thymar remained in the region to help rebuild Ruinspoke in the following months.[1]
