Iriaebor is a large city in Sunset Vale in the Western Heartlands region of Faerûn.[2] It stands on a sprawling ridge above the north fork of the river Chionthar.[3] It is known as the Overland City and the City of a Thousand Spires. The ridge itself is known locally as The Tor.[citation needed] A person from Iriaebor is known as an Iriaeben or Iriaeban.[4]
Government
Lord Bron rules the city, and carefully follows the dictates of a forty person voting merchant council.[5]
Defense
The Shield of Iriaebor is name of the armed forces of the city. They act to both police the city and patrol the surrounding lands.[5]
Trade
Iriaebor caries the caravan trade on the Dusk Road over the rapids and rough water of the upper Chionthar river, and links up with the Trader's Road[2]
Places of interest
The city is split into three sections. The Docks, at the bottom of the ridge on the river Chionthar, the Old City, bulit on the ridge itself, and the Lower City, on the flatlands top of the ridge.[2] Space is limited in the city, so the locals have simply bulit upwards. Many-storied towers rise from all over the city, joined to one another by bridges. The city streets are narrow and winding, covered in shadows.[5]
