Ishtiyam was the term used to describe a pilot or navigator of a sailing vessel in Zakhara.[1]
Activities[]
Not every ship in Zakhara had an ishtiyam on board at all times, but it was common practice to hire one when departing for a long voyage or as a backup when sailing through particularly dangerous waters.[1]
