Leek, also called shuss in the realms surrounding the Sea of Fallen Stars, whitebolt on the Sword Coast, and dlunlaer across the Shining South, was a green vegetable with long leaf quills with its stem being the edible part. It was related to onions, garlics, and scallions, and chives.[1]
Usages[]
Potato and leek was a common soup cooked across regions of Faerûn,[8] including Cormyr,[2] as well as leek and potato pie – in Westgate.[5] Leek and bacon pie was another Faerûnean staple.[9]
Leek and fish stew was served at the Buried Treasures inn in Bremen of the Ten-Towns.[7]
Another dish that used leeks from Cormyr was Marsemban tart, made with parsley, potato, salmon, crab, all in a sauce of almond milk, wine, persimmons, and leeks.[10]
In Cormanthor and the Dalelands, leeks were cooked into nut-and-leek gravy to be served with stag meat.[3] The stuffed turkey pie from The Watchful Eye inn of Essembra included leeks among its ingredients.[4]
The bowl of hares dish from the Oak-Father's Boon in Mosstone, Tethyr, also included diced leeks.[6]
Bhaerulb was a dish of mealworms and onions or leeks, favored by the hin and gnomes. While an elvish staple of the Sword Coast was the dish called oysters steamed in beer, served with a sauce that included leeks.[1]
Lastly, ground leeks were used as material components for wizardly and priestly spells. Ground leeks were available for purchase from Aurora's Whole Realms Catalogue.[11]
