The Leper's Curse was a terrible, leprosy-like plague that struck the Shoon Imperium in the Year of the Fleeting Pains, 354 DR.[1]
Effects[]
The main initial symptom was the inability to feel any pain, which eventually advanced to lack of sensation and eventually the failure of all senses. Many sufferers of the Leper's Curse were driven mad before they it killed them.[1]
History[]
When the plague struck in 354 DR, it hit every city in the Shoon Imperium and caused widespread death and madness.[1]
Seizing on an opportunity presented by the terrible affliction, the Shoon Imperium sent its infected soldiers on suicide missions against elf encampments in Amn and Tethyr. Unable to feel pain, these troops were highly effective.[1]
All told, about 19% of the population died in the plague, including 33% of the population of Calimport.[1][2]
