Lethchauntos's Legacy was a sentient enchanted greataxe crafted in or following the 10th century DR by the orc wizard Lethchauntos.[1]
Description[]
The greataxe had a symmetrical double-bladed axe head, with each blade appearing as an angular, giant arrowhead. The long haft had a metal grip and a leather loop at the base.[1]
Powers[]
While it had a modest enchantment enhancing its efficacy in combat, the axe's most notable property was its sentience. Lethchauntos's Legacy was driven by a mission to protect the family of its wielder (including close friends, whom it considered "found family"). It could perceive its surroundings via hearing and darkvision to a range of 120 feet (37 meters), and it could communicate with anyone who held its haft by transmitting emotions to them. The axe was wise, had above-average charisma, and had average intelligence.[1]
History[]
Lethchauntos was haunted by his failure to protect his family from the machinations of Wund in the 10th century DR.[4] He subsequently crafted the axe with the aid of the azer Falchia[2] in a forge within a hidden library he had constructed in the Dalelands.[1] It was Falchia's hope that someone heroic would take up the axe,[2] but Lethchauntos left it where it was forged when he moved on to build another library elsewhere. It remained there through the turn of the 16th century DR.[1]
