The Cormyr region of Living Forgotten Realms is mapped onto the north-eastern states of Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, Washington D.C., and West Virginia.

The Cormyr region in-game comprises the nation of Cormyr and its environs, including a number of fell marshes and treacherous goblin-infested mountains.

Geography of Cormyr Edit

Known as the "Forest Kingdom", Cormyr is a land of rolling green fields with tall mountain ranges on its sides and the sea to its south.

The capital of Cormyr, and the home to most of its nobles, Suzail is a prosperous city. It is famed for its ivory carvers and large amounts of ivory are imported every year, with the resulting ornate and skilled products being exported at great profit. The nation's armed forces the Purple Dragons and War Wizards have a strong presence in this city as well.

Tilverton Edit

Once a small city, Tilverton is now completely empty. It was attacked in 1372 DR by a mysterious effect, and now all that remains is a shadowy hole. Fifty Purple Dragons are kept near the area to watch over it at all times, for it is said that those who enter grow faint and then eventually vanish altogether. The Shade, with their nefarious expansionistic intentions and their mastery of shadows, are suspected of being behind the attack.

Known as the City of Spices, Marsember is a metropolis that rivals Suzail in size. It is said to be the economic heart of Cormyr, and its busiest city. It is a seaport located on a series of small islands connected by bridges and separated by thin canals. Cormyr has a 12-ship detachment from its navy located here.

Marsh of Tun and the Farsea Marshes Edit

These two marshes lie on the western end of Cormyr. It is said that ancient civilizations that predated the elves used to reside here, and that it was home to two rival city-states that unleashed foul magic against each other. Only ornate buildings made of glass but strong as steel remain. Adventurers and bandits now frequent these areas, as well as sickness and disease.

Purple Dragons Edit

The Purple Dragons is the large and capable army of Cormyr, not to be confused with King Azoun IV (known as the Purple Dragon, now deceased) nor the purple dragon Thauglor. The leadership of this armed force, known as the Purple Dragon Knights, are well respected across Faerûn as loyal, skilled, and heroic leaders who can inspire courage at the darkest times and leader their forces to victory.

War Wizards Edit

Trained as experienced combat mages, the War Wizards of Cormyr bring great power to any battlefield they join. They have also been effective against outside influence from neighboring and hostile nations. Wizards make up the bulk of this august group, but it is by no means restricted to just them, with a number of different arcanists joining their ranks.

Churches Edit

Largely matching the disposition of its populace (primarily Unaligned, Good, and Lawful Good), the most worshipped faiths in Cormyr are Chauntea, Deneir, Helm, Amauntor, Lliira, Oghma, Malar, Milil, Selûne, Silvanus, Tempus, Tymora, and Waukeen. In Suzail the most prominent temple is to Tymora, and in Marsember there lies a large temple to Amauntor (previously Lathander).

Cormyr Adventuring Companies Edit

IronApple Dragoons
The IronApple Dragoons are a stalwart mercenary band dedicated to the defense and prosperity of the innocent and just throughout Faerûn. Led by the stout gnomish warlord, Applehopper the Grim, the Dragoons seek to work for the common welfare of those who are oppressed or victims of the selfish and evil of the realms, seeking to restore peace to troubled lives. They suppliment their income through their many adventures, and skills.
Rider's of Falcon Hold
The Riders of Falcon Hold are a mercenary group which was founded by the friends and companions of a Paladin of Tyr to carry on his legacy. A Toril-wide Adventuring Company based in northern Cormyr, high in The Stormhorns, in a fortress known as Falcon Hold, What was needed was something different... an army without a country, ready to fight wherever needed to maintain security. The group seeks to uphold what is just and right, where conventional military forces may not be able to act.

The Lions of Cormyr
The Lions of Cormyr was founded in 1479DR by a paladin of Amaunator Markus Cormaeril, and his cousin and sellsword Morgan Kayle. They saw a need for a company of warriors to fight the enemies of Cormyr on her borders and beyond, nominally independent yet still sworn to the defense of the Purple Dragon Throne and her subjects. Granted a Royal Charter, the Lions of Cormyr number no more than thirty fighters, paladins and warlords who share unswerving loyalty to the Purple Dragon Throne, a desire to fight the enemies of Cormyr and any evil wherever it may be found, and the knightly virtues of honor, duty and justice. Each member aspires to one day join the ranks of the Purple Dragon Knights.

A stalwart group of dwarven patriots who defend Cormyr's western flank in the Storm Horn Mountain range at Castle High Horn.

Cormyr's population is over 1 million, with a mix of human (85%), half-elves (10%), and elves (4%).
