Looms were devised used by seamsters and weavers to create cloth and tapestries. Looms varied in design and materials but all had the same functionality with movable shuttles.[10] They were in wide use across Faerûn, from the hot sands of Anauroch[4] to the green hills of the Blade Kingdoms.[5]
Availability[]
Looms were sold at Aurora's Emporium and via Aurora's Whole Realms Catalogue, these decides came in three sizes: 2 feet (0.61 meters) was priced at 8 gp, 4 feet (1.2 meters) at 12 gp, and 8 feet (2.4 meters) at 18.[11]
Bedine humans of Anauroch used two types of looms,[5] standing and ground-looms. These weaving devices were in common use among people of the sands.[1] Ground-looms were considered a necessity.[12] Similarly, looms were a staple of a Ra-Khati or Khazari home in the Hordelands region,[8] as well as Wa in Kara-Tur.[9]
In Maztica, a feather-loom variant was in use by plumaweavers who created mundane items of resplendent feathers and magical pluma. These looms were found in various places, including the village of Palul, home of the Chosen Daughter of Qotal, Erixitl.[2] These feather-loom were large standing devices decked with feathers and cloth.[7]
The Shadovar used huge, comblike looms to weave shadow blankets, turning shadowsilk into cloth.[13]
