In 1374 DR, Ythnel, a handmaiden of Loviatar, leaves her temple in Bezantur for the first time to become a governess in Luthcheq across the sea. Accused of witchcraft in a city that forbids the arcane, Ythnel finds herself hunted by House Karanok. Led by her faith, she searches for allies amidst betrayals from the most unlikely sources.
