Masauwu, also called the Skeleton Man, was a spirit in the culture of the Azuposi, a human civilization of Maztica.[1]
Shrines[]
Across the Azuposi landscape, shrines to Masauwu were constructed by travelers who believed that he would offer them protection during their travels. The shrines consisted of piles of decorative stones and offerings of grass.[2]
