Maurice's malfeasance was an alteration spell, developed by the earth elementalist Maurice Stone in the mid–14th century DR, that put a damaging effect on all manner of magic within an area.[1]
Effects[]
When cast this spell created an area of effect, covering a radius of 150‑yard (140‑meter). Within that area of effect all magic items, magical abilities, and spells would cause harm to their wielder or spellcaster upon use. In the case of magical weapons, harm would only be incurred after hurting someone with the weapon.[1]
The duration of this spell and the distance at which it could be cast varied with the skill of its spellcaster, with the lowest possible values being 7 hours and a distance of 14 yards (13 meters).[1][note 1]
Components[]
Casting this spell required only somatic and verbal components.[1]
History[]
In the mid–14th century DR, Maurice Stone had this spell activate within his lair when a group of adventurers confronted him over the kidnapping of Lauren DeVillars.[1]
