Minolin Fey, also known as Minolin Fey-Branche[1] and Minolin Fey-Baenre[2], was a Mistress of Arach-Tinilith in Menzoberranzan and wife of Gromph Baenre, Archmage of Menzoberranzan.[2]
Personality[]
Minolin had an inner strength and independence that was belied by her servitude to Quenthel Baenre.[5]
History[]
Minolin was a fifth-year novice priestess at Arach-Tinilith in 1372 DR.[6]
In this position, she handled administrative work under Mistress Quenthel Baenre and was served by Myrineyl Baenre.[5][7]
As of 1484 DR, she served as Mistress of Arach-Tinilith.[7]
While serving Quenthel Baenre at Arach-Tinilith, Minolin developed an ally in Gromph Baenre, Quenthel's brother.[5] She eventually became his lover, and became pregnant with his child in 1484 DR; in the same year, the two were married, by order of Matron Mother Quenthel Baenre. Their child was to be named Yvonnel and was to become the successor to Quenthel.[3]
During her pregnancy, Minolin was subjected to treatment at the hands of the illithid, Methil El-viddenvelp, to infuse the as-yet-unborn Yvonnel II with the memories of the former Matron Mother, Yvonnel Baenre.[3]
Relationships[]
Minolin served Quenthel Baenre, who viewed her as weak and a fool. However, Minolin developed a relationship with Gromph Baenre as her ally and advisor, a relationship Gromph intended to use to subvert his sister's power. Minolin in turn hoped to use Gromph to break the Academy free from the control of House Baenre.[5] Minolin also considered freeing K'yorl Odran from the Abyss so that she would return and destroy House Baenre.[4]
