Mizar was the label attached to a depiction of a supernatural creature, most likely a demon, represented in a fresco found in an Imaskari ruin within the border of Veldorn and Estagund. "Mizar" was most likely meant to be its name. The creature depicted resembled a midnight black centaur with a horn in the middle of its forehead, in the manner of a unicorn; the eyes of the fresco showed hellish glee. The figure of an Imaskari artificer, labeled Umyatin, was reaching towards it.[1]

Background[]
A fiend known as "Mizar" is depicted in The Shattered Circle (TSR 11325), an adventure written by Bruce R. Cordell, the same author as Darkvision. The resemblance is too strong to be coincidental, as both Mizars are represented as both centaurs and unicorns, both are midnight black, and both bear deranged eyes. However, the extent of those resemblances is unlikely to hold any further, as the Mizar in Circle is not a demon but a corrupted and redeemable celestial, it is bound to its ruin, unable to leave, and is both berserk and speechless; it is not immediately obvious why it would be making deals with hopeful Imaskari emperors, or even that it could.
