The Nereid language was the racial language of nereids, a type of aquatic fey.[1]

Speakers[]

Beyond nereids themselves, Nereid was a common secondary language among the pahari of Zakhara,[2] some planeswalkers,[3] and the specialty priests of gods that held dominion over water.[4][5][6] Such priests included the druids and peacemen of Eldath,[4] the waterwalkers of Istishia,[5] and the waveservants of Umberlee.[6]

Notable Speakers[]

  • Nimtu, one of a pair of humans who owned The Painted Boat restaurant, learned to speak a smattering of the Nereid language after befriending the nereid Anemone.[7]
