Nondetection (or non-detection[8]) was an abjuration spell that hid the subject from divination and scrying.[13]

Effects[]

Other than casting on themselves, a caster was able to cast this spell on an creature or an object. After casting, it became very difficult for detection and divination spells to detect the targeted individual or object. The targeted creature's equipment was also protected. The spell also successfully prevented magical items such as crystal balls from targeting the subject of the spell.[13] A caster could use this spell to protect large items from detection, such as a ship or spelljammer that weighted up to one thousand tons. [14]

Components[]

In addition to verbal and somatic components, the spell required a material component, some diamond dust with a value of at least 50 gp.[13][12]

History[]

The spell was attributed to Netherese arcanist Ptack in −502 DR and was originally called Ptack's nonscryance.[1]
