The Outer Sea,[2][3] also known as the Outer Seas[4] or the Great Outer Sea,[1] was a term used to refer collectively to the seas that surrounded the continent of Faerûn. These were the Trackless Sea, which bordered west Faerûn, and the Great Sea that bordered south Faerûn.[2] This served as a contrast to the continent's major inland body of water, the Inner Sea.[3]
History[]
During the Twelfth Serôs War, a number of ports along the Outer Sea were attacked by the forces of Iakhovas.[5] The war came to an end when the Whirlpool Gate of Myth Nantar was used to expel Iakhovas from the Inner Sea and into the Outer Sea.[6]
Inhabitants[]
The Outer Sea shared many of the same sentient races as the Inner Sea,[3] most especially aquatic elves.[2][3] Other races included merfolk,[1] morkoths,[7] and sahuagins.[8] However, they exhibited a number of sociological[1][7] and physiological differences from their Inner Sea counterparts.[7][8]
