A parang was a kind of machete from Kara-Tur.[1]

Description[]

Parangs were machetes with heavy chopping blades[1] and were about 2 feet (61 centimeters) in length[5][6] and weighed around 4 pounds (1.8 kilograms).[3][4] They were used as both tools and weapons.[1]

A typical parang might sell for 15 yuan in a Kara-Turan market.[2]

Reputation[]

Monks of Kara-Tur sometimes used parangs as weapons,[7] and primitive people groups in Kara-Tur commonly carried the blades with them at all times.[1] The race of creatures known as hsing-sing carried parangs on their raids.[8][9]

Notable Owners[]

The Serpent, the enigmatic leader of the Phoenix clan of ninja, owned a parang of superb craftsmanship.[10]
