Peanuts, also known as groundnuts, were a type of legume that produced edible shelled underground nuts[1] that could be pulverized to make spreadable and edible peanut butter.[3]
Usages[]
Aurora's Whole Realms Catalogue offered peanuts for sale in its exotics section, priced at 30 gold coins per pound.[8]
A simple dessert treat called Monkey Balls included peanut butter and could be found in Amn. A copy of the recipe was kept in Dradeel's recipe collection in Spellhold.[3] Further south, peanuts were eaten in Calimshan, where they were baked and eaten as a side dish.[4]
In the Vast, peanuts could be found in Ravens Bluff's Downunda Patisserie. Its Anniversary Specials menu included a box of chocolate-covered peanut and almond clusters.[5]
Inhabitants of Port Nyanzaru in Chult consumed a dish of fried kapenta fish, cooked with onions and groundnut powder.[1]
Lastly, peanuts were found growing and consumed in Kara-Tur.[2]
History[]
Peanuts, or groundnuts, were eaten as early as the ancient empire of Netheril, where more primitive tribes foraged for peanuts to stew them.[7]
