The Plains of Purple Dust was a vast windy desert located east of the Dragonsword Mountains on the edge of the region occupied by Mulhorand[1] and the northern region of the Raurin desert.[2] The desert expanded in the century following the Spellplague of 1385 DR.[3]
Geographic Features[]
The Plains of Purple Dust was covered with a purple-colored dust[4] that radiated faint magic[1] and stony crags and rocky badlands.[2]
Inhabitants[]
- Purple worms[1]
- Sludar: A nomadic tribe of mongrelmen.[1]
- Human nomads[1]
- Lizardfolk could be found in the Underdark beneath the dust cities.[5]
- Brown dragons, blue dragons, and brass dragons could be found here.[2]
- Spectral mages, the undead remains of Imaskari artificers.[2]
- Rocs were rumored to nest in the mountains.[4]
- Purple sandlings inhabited the dunes.[4]
Oases[]
- The Grinning Skull: A large pool shielded by the skull of a great wyrm dragon.[1]
- The Lonely Lake: The descendants of the wizard Nezram could be often found here[1]
Ruins[]
Dozens of ancient arcane towers made of purple stone could be found here.[2]
