A plesiosaurus (pronounced: /plɛsiˈsɑːrʌsples-ee-o-SAR-us[6]) was an aquatic carnivorous dinosaur.[1]

Description[]

Plesiosauruses had compact bodies and strong flippers that were used to swim. They had long and flexible necks that accounted for about a third of their length.[1]

Behavior[]

Plesiosauruses were aggressive predators. They attacked any creature that crossed their path.[1] They were also highly curious and considered to be one of the smartest species of dinosaurs.[2]

Ecology[]

Habitats[]

Plesiosaurs were commonly found in the depths of the Lake of Mists[7] and some dwelled in the Methmere.[8]

Beyond the Prime Material plane, some lived within the central lake of the Forbidden Plateau.[9]

Notes[]

  1. The 2nd edition alignment given in the original source is "Nil", which should be read as Neutral according to this Sage Advice answer by Skip Williams in Dragon Magazine Issue #155: "The nil alignment rating is a holdover from an early draft of the Monstrous Compendium material. Originally, a rating of nil indicated that a creature was not intelligent enough to have an alignment at all. However, the nil rating was dropped during rewriting and should have been replaced with the neutral alignment."
