The Plinth was a temple for all faiths located in the Trades Ward of Waterdeep.[1]
Location
The Plinth was located between the Way of the Dragon and the High Road.[2]
Structure
The Plinth was a mighty needle-like tower consisting of a tall, thin pyramid with the top cut off. Small balconies were placed around the tower. The flat roof of the tower allowed a landing site for griffons and other aerial steeds.[1]
Activities
Although this temple was open to all faiths, the city forbade the sacrifice of any intelligent being. However, several such beings were found to have "leapt" from one of the tall balconies each year.[1] It was the only temple in the Trades Ward.[3]
In the wintertime, many poorer citizens sought the warm shelter of the Plinth to stay alive.[4]
History
The Plinth was originally a wizard tower before it became a church dedicated to the goddess Selûne. In 1095 DR, the church of Selûne donated the Plinth to the Lords of Waterdeep for the use of all faiths in the city. The church of Selûne moved their worship to the recently constructed High House of the Stars.[5]
