Potato chowder was a simple variety of potato soup made in the Realms.[1]
Description[]
The recipe called for a large soup pot to be greased with lard in which aromatic vegetables, such as leeks, garlic, and onions, were to be sautéed. The vegetables were seasoned with salt and drizzled with wine. The alcohol and vegetables were cooked until the wine was reduced. The potato wedges were added and cooked until soft. All contents of the soup pot were then mashed together with various dairy products like cheese and milk.[1]
History[]
In the mid-to-late 15th century DR, a potato chowder recipe was recorded and published in the Soups of the Realms by Brother Donnick, the priest cook from the Open Hand Temple dedicated to Ilmater, the Crying God, located in the Rivington district of Baldur's Gate.[1]
