Potion was a catch-all term for a liquid brewed by an alchemist or spellcaster with an intended magical or extraordinary effect. Probably most common were the various potions of healing wherein those with the ability to do so channeled positive energy into a mixture that could heal the wounds of the imbiber. Many temples used such potions to generate revenue for the upkeep of the building and any other expenses.
