Potions of clarity were magic potions that cleared and fortified the imbiber's mind.[6]
Description[]
Potions of clarity brewing process included pouring the piping-hot concoction over scorched pungent beans. The resulting potion had a strong smell and did not appear clear, contrary to its name.[6]
Powers[]
These foul-smelling potions immediately after consumption cleared the drinker's mind, flooding them with overwhelming feelings of calm and purpose.[4] That feeling persisted as long at the potions' effects remained active, fortifying the mind's defenses against mind-affecting magic spells and monster abilities, similar to that of the clarity spell.[6]
History[]
Circa Year of the Banner, 1368 DR, a myconid potion brewer, the Concoctor, was forced to serve the eccentric drow Baeloth the Entertainer of the Black Pits in the Underdark. Potions of clarity were among concoctions the fungus-man was selling to the Black Pits' gladiators.[5]
The same year, these potions were available for purchase from the Sorcerous Sundries of Baldur's Gate,[3] the Temple of Helm, Roger the Fence, of Athkatla, Amn, Wallace of Trademeet, and the bazars of Ust Natha.[4]
In the late 14th century DR, potions of clarity were wide-spread throughout the Sword Coast[6] and the Moonsea regions[1].
