Remove curse, also known as remove affliction,[3] was an abjuration spell that could permanently eliminate all curses on an object or a creature,[18][19][20][21] or in some instances, banish an evil presence.[19][20][21] The reverse of this spell was bestow curse.[7]

Effects[]

The caster had to successfully touch the cursed creature or object to cast this spell. Remove curse was effective on most curses, but strong curses, like those on weapons and armor, were usually not permanently removed, just lifted long enough for the person afflicted with a cursed item to get rid of it.[18][19][20][21]

Components[]

Only verbal and somatic components were required to cast this spell.[2][18][19][20][21]

History[]

The Netherese arcanist Enollar is given the credit for the creation of this spell in −1561 DR, when it was known as Enollar's dispel curse.[1][22] It was also one of the spells available from the Balance of Belaros, a holy relic of Tyr.[23]
