Rilder Palengerrast, Rilder Surtlash, or Rildar was an apprentice Red Wizard of Thay in the mid-14th century DR.[1]
Description[]
He was gaunt and black-bearded.[1]
Abilities[]
Rilder was one of Azmyrandyr's four weakest apprentices. Even his disguise spells would not last more than a few hours at a time. His strongest offensive spell was spectral axe.[1]
Relationships[]
He was apprenticed to Azmyrandyr.[1]
History[]
In 1369 DR, the Simbul assaulted a temple of Shar somewhere in Thay where the Red Wizard Azmyrandyr was preparing for an intrigue. Her goal was a revenge attack after Azmyrandyr participated in an attack on Silverymoon. During her attack, Azmyrandyr and his apprentices were rehearsing the impersonation of several notables from Nimpeth; Rilder himself was practicing his impersonation of Ilder Taramont.[1]
He employed a spectral axe when fighting her, but aimed at her projected image instead of her real body, and was slain without ever causing any damage on her.[1]

Notes[]
- ↑ He is referred to as Rildar in the narration and by Azmyrandyr, who also calls his Rilder Surtlash. As the narration calls him Rilder Palengerrast at the end, it is assumed in this article that Rildar is a copy error, while Azmyrandyr has for whatever reason made a mistake regarding his apprentice's last name.
