Description[]
Rods of frost were 2‑foot-long (0.61‑meter) transparent glassteel rods bound with iron bands and weighing 5 pounds (2,300 grams).[3]
Powers[]
When activated, these rods emitted a 30‑foot-long (9.1‑meter) ray of frost. The magical cold of the ray extinguished all flames it touched and froze the entire affected area. The ray of frost could be blasted three times per day.[3]
Creation[]
A skilled crafter of wondrous items could create such rods with the use ray of frost spell. The process usually took two days and cost 700 gp.[3]
History[]
In the late 14th century DR, rods of frost could be found throughout the Sword Coast region, notably in the city of Neverwinter[1]
Notable Users[]
- Jaroo: a gnomish wizard and a teacher of the Adventurer's Academy of Neverwinter. He crafted many rods of frost to be given out to his most skilled students circa 1372 DR.[1]
- Vejoni H. Wyzz: a planeswalking wizard who sold many enchanted items, including rods of frost. He briefly visited the hamlet of Liam's Hold in 1372 DR.[2]
