Scalpels were sharp medicinal tools designed to cut the flesh open, used by doctors and morticians of the Realms and, occasionally, wielded as weapons.[1]
“
The objective of the scalpel, sisters, is to soothe, for the scalpel, indeed, is an extension of Shar.
”
Description[]
Usually, scalpers were thin and extremely sharp knives made of metal.[1] However, scalpels made of obsidian were used in some locations. In the ancient city of Cursrah of the Calim Empire, obsidian scalpels were a common tool of a healer and torturer, alongside other tools, such as forceps, needles, bone-saws, and retractors.[2]
