Smelling salts were among the minor herbal and alchemical medicinal products created by alchemists, apothecaries, and hedge wizards.[2][3]
The salts could be obtained from deer antlers via an alchemical process that concentrated the ammonia.[4]
Usage[]
- Smelling salts were useful for waking up those who had been knocked unconscious or put to sleep, magically or otherwise.[5] It could even break some mental enchantments.[6]
- Brightmantle used smelling salts or similar ammonia-based substances as a material component.[1]
- Modify memory could use smelling salts as a metamagic component.[7]
