Staff maces were enchanted staves that transformed into hafted maces in battle.[3]
Description[]
Staff maces were magically designed to help clerics or druids traverse wilderness. They can be used to walk difficult terrains and wielded as maces when dealing with dangerous wildlife.[2]
Powers[]
These weapons radiated a faint aura of transmutation magic. When these staves' command word was spoken, they transformed into a mace-like weapon. It possessed a strong +2 enchantment and could be easily wielded by anyone who can use a simple staff.[3]
History[]
In the Year of the Gauntlet, 1369 DR, the elven mage Dradeel kept a staff mace inside his cabin on the Isle of Balduran in the Trackless Sea.[2] The same year, several staves could be found in the City of Coin, Athkatla: Ribald Barterman sold them in his Adventurer Mart in the Waukeen's Promenade; Mistress Ada sold them in the Temple of Talos; and Haz, a member of the Shadow Thieves wielded it in battle against Athkatlan vampires. The Temple of Umberlee on the isle of Brynnlaw in the Nelanther Isles sold staff mace.[3]
