Sunrods were a light source created either through alchemy[3] or magic.[4]
Description[]
Sunrods were iron rods with golden tips, measuring roughly 1 foot (0.3 meters) in length and weighing 1 pound (0.45 kilograms). They were activated by striking them against another surface.[1]
They casted a steadier light than torch light,[4] shining brighter and out to a wider radius. They also lasted for a longer duration[5][6]—typically four[6] to six hours[1][5]—and they were difficult to extinguish.[4] Once a sunrod's duration was over, its golden tip became dim and unusable.[1]
Creation[]
Ember moss was one of the few known items that could be used in the creation of sunrods.[7]
Availability[]
- Almaes the Alchemist's shop in Ashabenford sold sunrods.[8]
- Old Angrath's Smokehouse in Red Larch, being a business run by an alchemist, sold sunrods.[9]
Usage[]
- Some miners were known to attach sunrods to helmets in order to provide them a hands-free source of illumination.[10]
- Sunrod chemicals could be incorporated into arrows, bolts, or sling bullets to craft what was known as signal ammunition.[10]
- Both gold dwarves and shield dwarves were commonly seen to carry sunrods.[11]
