Tabit was a hearth-goddess worshiped by the Pazruki.[1]

Legends[]

According to the legends of the Pazruki, in time immemorial, Tabit came down from the heavens to give her blessings to Pazruk, the youngest son of the Father of All Tribes. With this, she also gifted him a sacred golden torc.[note 1] This legend was cited as the origin of the Pazruki's patriarchal practices, especially the passing down of inheritances from father to youngest son.[1]

Behind the Scenes[]

Tabit may be identical to (or at least modeled after) the similarly named Tabiti, the Scythian goddess of the hearth and the primordial fire from which all creation was said to have sprung.

Notes[]

  1. While this is never explicitly stated, due to Pazruk's involvement in a myth concerning the origin of the Pazruki's patriarchal structure and his sharing a name with the ethnicity to which he belonged, it can be safely assumed that he was an eponymous ancestor of the Pazruki.
