Say, are there any plans to update the Chult maps? Some of these ones are pretty bad in comparison to the TOA ones. Obviously not top priority, just saying. JackToland.
- I went ahead and updated the image used in this article, at least. --Ir'revrykal (talk) 18:36, February 5, 2018 (UTC)
New Name or Not?[]
Is the Aldani Basin actually a new name for the Swamp of Sorrows? Or is the Swamp of Sorrows a swamp located within the Aldani Basin? The latter seems far more likely to me. ~ Lhynard (talk) 20:11, February 5, 2018 (UTC)
- I can't find "Swamp of Sorrows" anywhere other than the HandsomeRob map. The Aldani Basin is described as a "marshy upland basin" in ToA, for what it's worth. --Ir'revrykal (talk) 20:29, February 5, 2018 (UTC)
- Thanks for the help, Ir'revrykal!
- When I first made this article, (because my PCs headed here,) it was before the publication of ToA. The Jungles of Chult did not name the swamp, so I went looking for it. I found the name "Swamp of Sorrows" on two maps. One I knew to be HandsomeRob's and non-canon, but the other was a modified crop of the 3e map from the FRCS. I was tricked! I did not notice until now that the map I has used was a modified map; I had thought it was the canon map, because the map iteslf looked exactly the same—only the labels were different. I wrote up the article citing the 3e map as the source, when in fact the 3e map doesn't actually have the name on it! Your comment here sent me on a search today, and I totally agree with you; the name isn't anywhere else.
- So, I've removed all references to "Swamp of Sorrows" on this wiki.
- Now, it's still possible that the Swamp is actually canon, if it is mentioned in The Ring of Winter, but I don't have that book. If it turns out that the Swamp is real, we can always add a new article about it using whatever hypothetical information is in the novel. In such a case, the Swamp would be found within the basin, as ToA describes the swamp within the basin surrounded by dense foliage.
- Let me know if you think anything else needs fixing in regards to this area of the world, as, before ToA came out, I was the only editor who gave Chult any love.
- I've noticed that areas we develop on the wiki have a tendency to become the next area of focus for the published Realms. :) Anyway, no Swamp of Sorrows appears in The Ring of Winter. Tthere is a swamp, the site of a random encounter with a dinosaur, but it's not named nor especially interesting. — BadCatMan (talk) 01:22, February 6, 2018 (UTC)
- Well untangled, Lhynard. Good job. :) --Ir'revrykal (talk) 09:44, February 6, 2018 (UTC)
