I checked Bury Elminster Deep, Elminster Must Die, and Elminster Enraged for references to the Barelder noble family. I also reviewed my master list spreadsheet of Cormyrean noble families, as well as my collection of miscellaneous lore references for mention of this family. How do I create a Hall of Justice that is different from the one already on this wiki (that's found in Neverwinter)? This has to do with disambiguation, yes? JGrenemyer (talk) 20:47, 28 May 2023 (UTC)
- There is no Barelder family mentioned in Bury Elminster Deep, just a single person with the name Barelder. That's not enough evidence for there being a family of the same name. As for the Hall, the standard title format is "Name (Location)"—in this case your article new article should be titled Hall of Justice (Suzail). Ir'revrykal (talk) 21:10, 28 May 2023 (UTC)
- No offense to your note-taking, JG, but your spreadsheets and references aren't a valid source if we can't check the original information for ourselves. We can only work off what's published and canon and that can be found and checked. Trust but verify. :)
- Now, it's slim, but I think there just might be a Barelder family. This Council of Dragons is composed of the "heads of the noble Houses" (chapter 9), of which Lord Barelder must be one. He's also included in a list of lords named only by their family name (ch. 11). Taken together, I lean toward this implying the existence of a House Barelder, and the others too.
- By the way, since this is Hall of Justice seems to be a room in the palace in Suzail, it wouldn't need a new link. The information is best placed on Castle Obarskyr. ~ BadCatMan (talk) 11:43, 29 May 2023 (UTC)
Hi Everyone!
OK, I'm confused. I included a page reference in the citation for the Bareldur family. Is that not visible when you look at the citation?
And don't worry, I take no offense. It's always been my practice to not put anything in a spreadsheet that doesn't have a page number attached to it. Lastly, I don't merely "read and record" for my lore collecting. Rather, I read an entire novel first, then go through it a second time page by page with an eye towards context. This is how I know there was in fact a Lord Barelder (who I keep wanting to write as 'Bareldur' for some reason) at the Council of Dragons.
For novels written by Ed, my practice is to reach out to him for clarification on any scene or page if I don't understand it. JGrenemyer (talk) 22:28, 30 May 2023 (UTC)
- Hey there, I see the page number. Btw, there are different citations for different printings. I added paperback to the citation temple, assuming that is what you're using.Artyom.pavlov (talk) 22:35, 30 May 2023 (UTC)
- Hi Artie! I'm using the hardback edition. :D
Also, I want to check with Ed before I add the Hall of Justice to Castle Obarskyr. Sometimes he shifts between the Royal Palace and the Royal Court without warning.
- Alright, I'll ask Ir' to add citation for it. I don't have the book, sadly. Good call on the Hall of Justice. If you can ask for a map location too to pin to the interactive map here - would be grand.-Artyom.pavlov (talk) 22:47, 30 May 2023 (UTC)
