>The Ethereal was unique among the many planes in that an individual could exist in two planes simultaneously: the Border Ethereal and the adjacent plane.[4]
Looking at the source cited (and most other descriptions of the Border Ethereal I have available), I can't find anything actually suggesting a person in the Border Ethereal is simultaneously in both planes. It's more like the Ethereal is an insubstantial dimension that can exist in the same "space" as any other dimension, and the border areas are simply the parts where it does. 135.23.217.23 23:19, November 1, 2016 (UTC)Spatz
- Um, it clearly states on page 11 of the Manual of the Planes 1st edition that "The Ethereal is unique among the planes in that a visitor can exist simultaneously in both the Ethereal and another plane, in a region of the Ethereal plane known as the Border Ethereal." This might have changed in later editions (4th edition even eliminated the Ethereal altogether), but this simultaneity certainly was true in the earliest Great Wheel cosmology. —Moviesign (talk) 00:15, November 2, 2016 (UTC)
- P.S. The explanation at Great Wheel cosmology#Ethereal Planes might shed some light on how it was supposed to work. —Moviesign (talk) 00:21, November 2, 2016 (UTC)
