Seems that 5e consider the eladrin as being different than high elves. Shouldn't we make the distinction as well?--Zero (talk) 05:06, February 6, 2018 (UTC)

TBH I am not at all caught up with 5e and don't quite know the distinction. Like I understand the Second Sundering changed the planes and created this feywild influence on a lot of races but what/where is the distinciton in this case? Ruf (talk) 06:49, February 6, 2018 (UTC)
Eladrin have only been rarely mentioned in 5e. There should be a slew of elf lore incoming with Mordenkainen's Tome of Foes, possibly including (if Unearthed Arcana material is anything to go by) a proper eladrin writeup. I think you're right that 5e treats the two races as separate, though. --Ir'revrykal (talk) 09:48, February 6, 2018 (UTC)
It was confirmed by Jeremy Crawford and Kate Irwin on Wizards' Twitch that several variants of eladrin and shadar-kai are going to be explored in Mordenkainen's Tome of Foes, including a subrace suitable for PCs and other subraces, more powerful and more deeply related to the Feywild. He didn't go so far as to specifically call them "noble" or "celestial", but I think they might go on some of those directions. — Sirwhiteout (talk) 14:10, February 6, 2018 (UTC)
Eladrin was never simply a synonym for "high elf". That was a common misunderstanding. All high elves are eladrin, but not all eladrin are high elves.
The term "eladrin" also has different levels of meaning, just like "dog" in English can be the specific species Canis familiaris or the entire dog family. 5e does nothing to change this. The eladrin mentioned in 5e are simply a suggested subrace of the larger eladrin family.

I just went and changed Eladrin into a disambiguation page, removing the redirect to here. ~ Lhynard (talk) 14:26, February 6, 2018 (UTC)

Drow image[]

Image shows a drow casting dancing light not a high elf.

No, it's clearly not a drow. It's a moon elf (which is a type of high elf).
