Rename?[]

So I picked the name for this article even though it doesnt specify the adding of +1 or +2 enchantments to items. If theres room for an article about that process Ill change the name for sure, or if anyone can think of a better name for the process described herein. Ruf (talk) 00:03, February 19, 2018 (UTC)

(Repeating for the record) I think the name is fine. The topic is the process or action of item enchantment, not the finished items, so the noun-ified verb is appropriate. That's what the section in the book uses. It also doesn't mention +1 enhancements or the like. — BadCatMan (talk) 06:23, February 24, 2018 (UTC)

Editions 3 through 5[]

Hey! Great article, BTW. I was working on Enchant an Item until recently, and I felt compelled to take a look at the process outlined here, the one from Volo's. I thought about the following things we could add about the editions 3, 4, 5.

On 3rd edition, we don't have much. Off the top of my head, I remember the chests you enspell in Neverwinter Nights once you've got the Hasuraman the Muddled books and Imaskarran tomes. Being videogames they aren't super amazing wow, but they do seem to resemble this process of enstarment-mastering-etc more than the tenday-and-change process of Enchant an Item.

On 4th edition, I haven't read the book, but I remember peeps talking about Residuum, which apparently was the central component of item crafting after the 'plague. On 5th edition we've the least. There are suggestions for minimum level and for where to get the key component, and that's about it; depending on the canonicity we judge for books such as XgtE and the Eberron one, spellcasting may or may not be a necessity either.

Also, I would like to quibble about the odds for Enchant an Item being worse than those for the other, more complex process. I'll have to calculate later; as I recall, the Enstarment-Mastering-Awakening process involves a saving throw, improved by the presence of crown melds; EaI involves a single percentile roll, modified by level and stuff. I'll get back to you with some more numbers, kk? Stabbier (talk) 22:50, 2 March 2022 (UTC)
